About the event

It's said "The fire goes as the 1st line goes". The most important operation of a 1st due Engine Company is to stretch and operate the initial attack handline. We will discuss how to keep this operation simple, effective and reliable to get water on the fire. Is it better to have more choices? We will look at standpipe packages, preconnects, and static load attack lines.


Daryl Liggins retired in 2023 after serving 31 years in the fire service. Starting his career in 1992 in the Redwood City, CA Fire Department where he worked as a Firefighter/Engineer. In 1999, he began his career as a firefighter in the Oakland, CA Fire Department. He promoted to Liuetenant in 2006, Captain in 2015, and Captain of Training in 2021. In the field he was assigned to Engine 13, Engine 18, and Truck 6 which are among the citys most active fire companies.…
